Angelo Zaldivar

BFA in Graphic Design

Angelo Zaldivar was born in Saltillo, Mexico on December 23rd, 1997 where he was raised until the age of 13 when it began to become a more dangerous environment. Being raised abroad he has seen what it is like to live in a third world country and understands struggles that many people take for granted. In 2011 he and his single mother moved to Maryland in hopes of finding a better life. In order to transition to America, he had to adapt to the new environment and culture fast enough to maintain pace at school. While learning to adapt to the new society around him he began developing an interest in art as those classes seemed to come to him the easiest. He began attending Howard Community college in 2016 after graduating from River Hill High School. It was here where he began to truly explore his interest in art and after his passion began developing his work The March of Time was selected to be displayed in the Horowitz Center Galleries. In 2019 he transferred to Salisbury University in order to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design. As a designer he has helped many clients with branding, illustration, and website design. Nature is a big inspiration for his work with personal projects that emphasize environmentalism and global warming awareness.

Humans work to stop the spread of invasive species in the wild that would otherwise damage the ecosystem, but we fail to see that we are the most invasive species that is damaging our planet. We destroy the environment around us in order to cater to the excessive needs of a human in today’s society. People throw trash anywhere they like simply because of laziness, forests are leveled for new apartment complexes, and pollutants are flushed into rivers.  Recycling is a start, but ultimately what we need is for every individual on the planet to truly care for our planet. Meanwhile big corporations are creating the majority of pollutants and poisoning the only planet we have to live on.

Humans take this planet for granted thinking it will always be here but with the ozone layer dissolving because of big corporations’ carbon and methane emissions we will veer farther and farther from the livable climate for humans until ultimately, we become extinct. Meanwhile these same big companies place their money in politicians’ pockets so they can continue to fill their own pockets while irreparably damaging the earth. If these corporations stopped their emissions combating global warming would be feasible but they are not willing to give up their profits in order to maintain the planet we live on.
