Dana Lefkof
BFA in Graphic Design
Dana Lefkof was born in Cleveland, Ohio and start her track in Graphic Design during her junior year in high school. She started off by going to Thomas Edison High School of Technology for half of the day to study printing processes and graphic design. She gained a Print ED Certification from that high school before moving on to Montgomery Community College for an associates in Fine Arts for Graphic design in 2019. Now, she is finishing her bachelor’s in graphic design at Salisbury University.
When it comes to her digital illustrations, Dana will go for more of a semi-realistic feel by making the illustrations out of organic shapes. Even with working with organic shapes, she is still able to make the work look realistic with how small the shapes are that she builds with. When it comes to her work with logos and other marketable material, she works in a more simplistic way to keep a clean design throughout the work. However, when it comes to her ink illustrations, she works around with lighting and shading to add emphasis on the shading around what she draws. Due to only using black ink pens, she uses shading techniques to express the mood or theme of the drawing I am creating. The reason she uses black ink is that I can experiment with the types of shading. An example is thicker or thinner line work, or cross-hatching to make the shading lighter or darker.
