BA Two-Dimensional Studio with a Minor in Art History

The artwork I create is a physical exploration and representation of subjects that bounce between my subconscious thoughts, serving themes that revolve around existence, perspective, and the trivialities of life itself, as well as creating art for art’s sake, because simply, it is something I enjoy. My work showcases a breadth of pieces ranging in various media, including two-dimensional paintings, drawings, and/or prints, as well as sculptural works, clothing, and fashion related items. The entirety of work displays the scope of my personal artistic capabilities that are influenced by my interests in both art and fashion.

While creating these works, I grapple with the idea that perspective is reality, synthesizing what I see or feel in the world and hoping to transcend physical works of art into something meaningful for myself and hopefully my audience. Art to me is the act of creation, the intention, and the execution. I take pride in the work that I do and try to translate my thoughts and feelings into each piece.

Influences from my own consciousness along with my interests in art and fashion come together to form unique works that represent myself as an artist, an individual, and as a human. The idea of the future enlightens me yet simultaneously scares me. This is where my motivation lies for creating. I think of an end goal, an intention for creating art to the point where I hope it holds meaning at any moment in time to any individual. Work for this exhibition has initiated a revelation in myself, where I have begun to really take my thoughts and feelings I have had for a while that had been settled in the back of my mind a newfound place where they can take form in our reality.

My desire for myself as an artist and a human is to change the world, leave it a better place from when I left it when I am gone. To create art that speaks to people, inspires them, opens something inside of them they may not have known they had. These are the things I think of, both as an artist and on my downtime in my day-to-day life. I am just trying to find my way, longing that my work as a whole can do exactly that, preach something or frankly make it seem like life makes sense or that I know what I am doing.
